Free Chrissy: I always knew the "justice" system in this country was anything but just, but this is absurd.
Execution Protocol From The Smoking Gun website, the play by play guide to the plans leading up to, during and after the execution of Timothy Mc Veigh. Even if you agree with the death penalty, you have to admit this is pretty creepy. I'm not into premeditated murder by the state. If this isn't premeditated, I dunno what is. But that's just me! Be sure to visit The Smoking Gun thru the front door after you are done cuz it's a cool site.
Friends of Andy:
He is a teenager who was bullied and picked on and finally fought back. Now he is being tried as an adult.
Why bother having a juvenile system if you are going to try kids as adults? If they are not old enough to drink or smoke because they are incapable of making these decisions maturely, then how can they
be expected to be able to make decisions about how to deal with bullies maturely?
Mandatory minimum sentences are a really really bad idea. Visit this site to see why.
The Gallup Poll This is a recent Gallup Poll on opinions about capital punishment. 81% of people polled feel that Timothy McVeigh should be executed. This includes 22% of people who claim they don't even support the death penalty (uh, evidently they do support it!) More people support capital punishment in general than do not support it. However, the majority of people polled also felt that innocent people are executed from time to time. The majority also do not feel it is a deterrent to crime. Even when asked if evidence was revealed that proved it was not a deterrent to crime, most people still supported it. More people than not also felt that poor people get the death sentence more often than others. The majority of people polled also felt the death penalty was not imposed enough now! What is going on here!? They don't think it reduces crime and they know that it is not administered fairly and they STILL want it! Why? Because people want revenge, they want someone to PAY. This attitude is a clue into the national psyche. People always wonder why we have such a vengeful and violent society. We must be naturally vengeful and violent if we can support such actions on our citizens by our government.
